Egg-shaped warbler Aaron Neville was a Next Big Thing back when there actually were Big Things.  His first single was an instant classic, and while not an universally-recognizable megahit, it has only improved with age.  Alas, the next two decades saw him fade into obscurity, never coming close to his earliest triumph.  He hit rock-bottom in 1989, recording a ghastly duet with Linda Ronstadt for $50 and a free month’s gym membership.  It went on, of course, to be an universally-recognizable megahit, final proof that there is no justice, only Linda Ronstadt.
